JDM BMW E92

23 September 2008 No Comment

I have to admit that some Japanese tuners are giving the German tuners some good butt whoopin’ when it comes to aero kit designs especially in the BMW E92 scene. I still haven’t seen any kits out there that completely blew me away more than the Ericsson (Powerhouse Amuse) E92 M3.

Even just a shot of this bumper makes me smile. Thanks for the pic Inomata-san.

Speaking of Powerhouse Amuse, founder and owner Hideki Tanabe passed away last saturday. I just wanted to give my sincere and deepest sympathy to his family and friends.

Another Japanese tuner getting a piece of the BMW E92 pie is Vertex. They got my attention few years ago when they released a vented hood for the E36 and a very cool looking diffusers that works with the stock E36 M3 bumper. And now, they’re at it again. Check out Vertex’s effort in building a widebody kit for the E92. Looks like they used an E92 M3 bumper as a basis for their design and added their own flava. Looks good so far but we’ll have to see how it looks when it’s all done. A peak of the laid out plan for the vented hood looks very aggressive and with all those louvers I’m sure would be enough to dissipate heat away from the engine bay. The rear bumper and rear quarter panel is a little strange to me but the sideskirts looks great.

Word is that this Vertex E92 will be piloted by Takahiro Ueno for the ‘08 D1 season but instead of keeping the BMW powerplant, they plan to yank the twin turbo N54 engine and replace it with a Toyota 2JZGTE engine… ohh some of the BMW purist aint gonna like that one bit. But then again they never like anything outside the plain vanilla.
