My old Daily
It’s hard to keep a show car in pristine condition especially if its black and it’s your only car. My solution was to get a daily driver. The car I chose was a 2000 BMW M Roadster. At the time, this was the fastest convertible model BMW had ever produced. The performance and handling out of the box didn’t disappoint. I was pretty happy driving it on a daily basis and keeping my E36 garaged.
I had no plans in tricking it out when I took delivery – ok maybe just wheels and suspension, but by the next show I attended, I found myself with both cars entered in the competition. The M Roadster was no longer stock but looked like a HAMANN catalog on wheels. I got a set of 19×8.5 and 19×10 HAMANN PG2s, HAMANN Exhaust, HAMANN 8 pc. body kit including the tail light conversion, HAMANN floor mats and shift knob and pedals. H&R hooked me up to give the car a proper stance.
It was used to promote HAMANN here in the US as a display car at the 2001 Los Angeles Auto Show. It was also a cover car with a 5 page feature in the July 2000 issue of MAX Power Magazine ( thanks for the feature and write up RJ!). It was also used in a a photoshoot by YOLK Magazine – cookie to anyone that remembers YOLK Magazine
. And it was “almost” the car used for the Asian mafia guy in Fast & Furious. It was almost a done deal when Jay and I dropped off the car with the production crew ready to sign the paper work and was told later on that it will be painted yellow (yuck). The pay was good but not worth it for me so I pulled out and they used RJ’s Veilside S2000 instead.
Anyways here are some pictures..

I sold the car the car in 2002 and the new owner had it shipped directly to DINAN to get the S3 supercharger treatment. The car was torquey which made it so much funn, ahh I miss it.
