2010 NSX Super GT

25 November 2008 2 Comments

0-60 Magazine had contacted me regarding my automotive renderings and wanted to see how the rendered speculation process was done. I’ve done a few of these lately so I thought it was a great idea to show one way to do it.

In this quick outline, we’ll use the stock 2010 NSX and convert it into a full blown Super GT NSX racecar.

Starting from this spy photo..

Create a line art by tracing the basic shape and details to get as close as possible to the actual car. Just use your imagination for other details that aren’t as clear. These are just speculations anyway.

To convert a street car to a JGTC race car, create a widebody kit fitting for the series

Next step is “color flattening” and figuring out the livery / paint scheme..

Start modeling the car by adding shadows and highlights..

Add sponsor graphics as well as other details…

For the final touch, put your image in a suitable background. Add even more details to it for realism.

And that’s about it. As I mentioned, there are many ways to go about it so I encourage those who are interested to learn Photoshop as it is a very powerful tool. This process is also what I use for designing body kits to help body shops, builders and tuners visualize the concept body kits.

Below is the animated transition from the spy picture to my 2010 Super GT NSX. (thanks Jeff)

You can pick up the current issue (Winter 2009) of 0-60 Magazine to read the article they wrote about “Virtua-Modding”.

I LOVE your work bro. I printed about 50 of your best works and put them up around my friends workshop. Very inspirational…I want to learn this in order to make presentations to perspective sponsors.
