Holden Muscle 350

8 January 2009 10 Comments

What if HUMMER built a car? Well here is a rendering I did of what I thought it might look like.

It was based on a Camaro with some design hints that came directly from the HUMMER trucks. I wanted to keep it muscular and called it the HUMMER GT. Click here for the Hi-Res.

OK SO HERE IS WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING…

Andre Mulyadi of Signal Auto, a master car builder from Bandung, Indonesia contacted me in regards to this rendering. They wanted to build the car in real life! My first impression was “whatever, go ahead“. I had no clue if they were serious or not. But I’ve seen some of their past projects and seems like maybe they can pull it off. They’ve built numerous widebodies and really tricked out cars for car show competitions and had a pretty good collections of awards as a result.

And then they started sending me progress pictures which blew my mind away. They were really building the car, from scratch! From the galvanized steel chassis to every panel of the car was hand built and molded. The more pictures I received, the more I’m convinced that these guys were serious and have the skills to really pull this off. Andre, the owner of the shop and Franky, were the guys that had kept in touch with me on this project. In the meantime, we end up working on another super top secret project for the 2008 AUTOBLACKTHROUGH (click to view the flyer) which was scheduled for Dec. 6-7 2008. I wasn’t sure which car would make it for the show but they continued to build both cars. Then the decision was made, FINISH THE MUSCLE CAR. The other project was put on hold to finish Hummer muscle car.

AUTOBLACKTHROUGH is the biggest modified car show in Indonesia and to be crowned the grand CHAMPION of the Show is a really big deal. Different tuner shops spends thousands of man hours and money on their cars to claim this title. On top of the bragging rights, the show also gives a brand new Mitsubishi Lancer to the winner.

At the show, SIGNAL AUTO unveiled their entry- the HOLDEN MUSCLE 350. It’s so freaking crazy, looks straight out of a MADMAX movie. It is powered by a built 350CID Small Block V8 with a very long list of parts from forged pistons, ARP fasteners, Weiand Supercharger 6-71, to an array of Edelbrock components and everything in between.

Here are the pictures..

When I saw the pictures, I thought, that can’t be real. It looks like a Hotwheels toy LOL. But it is real, check out some video I found as they were setting it up for a dyno run at the event.

I couldn’t find the actual dyno footage but the sound of the open headers sounds real nice at every blip of the throttle. I’m very pleased with how the car turned out.

UPDATE: Thanks to MickeeFREE for uploading the rest of the dyno footage.

On top of my rendering, Andre and the crew added their own style which proved to be successful as the 1960 Holden Car 350 Connection took the 2008 AUTOBLACKTHROUGH CHAMPION

Congrats to Andre, and everyone at SIGNAL AUTO. To see the full list of mods, goto www.signalauto.net

I can’t wait to see the other project car that I designed for them. That one is gonna be even crazier.

I’m not sure which part of my post you are referring to that’s from Malaysia. But if you’re talking about SIGNAL AUTO who built this car, they are located in Bandung, Indonesia. And the AUTOBLACKTHROUGH carshow where this car debuted was held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

If the event is in the hold in Malaysia, Indonesia remains the winner.
