BMW M3 GT4

10 April 2009 No Comment

A quick quote from BMW Motorsport’s press release in regards to their new BMW M3 GT4 racecars…

The BMW M3 GT4, the youngest addition to the Customer Racing product range offered by the BMW Motorsport Distribution division, made its debut on the legendary Nordschleife in front of many BMW fans at last weekend’s 56th ADAC Westfalenfahrt. After four hours, Müller and Übler were victorious in the SP10 class, and finished 30th overall.

In the press pics, the car is sporting the BBS CH but check out how the actual M3 GT4 that raced at last weekend in Nordschleife as captured by Fabrice Bergenhuizen. The cars are not as wild as GT1/GT2 or other series but what’s interesting to me is the latest BBS wheels that is on this car. It’s my first time seeing this and it’s different front any thing from the BBS line up. I’ve no idea what it’s called but I like it. The spokes are scalloped like the ones on my GT2 race wheels. It reminds me a bit of the LM-R which is a split 7-spoke wheel but this new one is a split 5-spokes. I wonder if BBS will release it for the public.

Also another interesting part that caught my eye is the E36 M3-style side mirrors. I guess that design is timeless.

The BMW M3 GT4 will be racing in the 24-hour of Nurburgring this coming May. Müller and Priaulx will be behind the wheel of the BMW M3 GT4 when they race for Schubert Motorsport in the Eifel region. Ahh it’ll be interesting to see how well this car holds up in this legendary endurance race.
