My Geeky Side

24 July 2009 3 Comments

I was surprised to see GOOGLE featuring DC Comics super hero characters in their homepage – Google.com. Check out the art done by the man himself JIM LEE.

When I clicked on the image, I was even more surprised to see my work on SUPERMAN being offered as one of the theme.. woohoo!

I’m inking the last page of Supergirl#44 and I’m off to the Comic Con. I’ll be doing a signing at the DC Comics Booth so stop by and say hey if any of you guys are there.

Most of my friends already are in the San Diego Comic Con enjoying the madness, promoting their books, doing signings, picking up new toys, etc. I’m all geeked out and can’t wait to join them. This is one of the reason I try to go when I can. With our schedule being so busy these days, being married, kids, family etc., it’s hard to find time to see them as much as I want to and this is the only time I get to see them- kind like SEMA for all my car guy friends. These guys have influenced me and turned me into a bigger geek. Before I met them, my only collection was 1:18 scale cars but these guys got me collecting action figures, watching STAR WARS and all that good anime stuff. I couldn’t keep up as I decided to dump all my money into my cars instead so my collections were pretty sad.. LOL.

Speaking of STAR WARS, it was recently announced that they are gonna have a Star Wars Concert. This is how my mind pictured this event LOL.

But really it’s a traveling symphony orchestra performing the music/scores from all six Star Wars films. I’m sure most of my friends already got tickets for these.

I met these guys when I started in IMAGE Comics under the EXTREME Studios back in ’92. Most inkers like myself are still in the industry but some of the other guys have since branched out to either be in Story board animation and film, Character design for video games, etc..

One of my close friend Andy Park who I inked over TOMB RAIDER comics when we were with TOP COW Studio is now with SONY Entertainment doing character designs for their video game God Of War. He is doing the covers for a six issue mini series for God Of War which will be published through Wildstorm under DC Comics.
Check out some of his work..

I’ll take some pics and post them up here when we get back.

living in Canada means going to google.com is an automatic redirect to google.ca, so i’m glad you pointed this one out :) we still get themed homepages but they generally aren’t this kind of awesome

    Thanks Wynn.

Which one lives in your building. I know of Charlie, Cecil, Dwayne, Erik, Scott, and Ryan. I do not really know any of these guys personally but they all work with my friend Andy Park as concept artist for GOW.
