YMS HCR32

4 August 2009 One Comment

The GT-R version of the R32 Skyline is the typical choice for many tuners for track purpose. This doesn’t mean that the single turbo GTS-t Type M models can’t be tuned to hang with their twin turbo GT-R brothers.

Take for example this Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-t Type-M from YellowHat Motor Sports in Gyoda, Japan built to run in the Tsukuba TC2000 series. .

To make this model go fast quick, it makes sense to swap the stock engine with the twin turbo RB26DETT engine which came stock with the GT-R model. But the guys from YMS chose the road less traveled and kept the stock RB20DET turbo inline 6. In stock form, the engine puts out 158 kW (212 hp). It was retuned, some components upgraded and as a result, they were able to squeeze out a 300 kW (402 hp) out of it.

The stock fenders were cut and a set of fender flares were riveted down to fit (barely) some serious rubbers to take advantage of the new found power. The wheels are a set of SSR SP1 with the fronts measuring 17×9.5 et-28 yes that negative 28. And the rear wheels are 17×10 et -32, even crazier.

The interior were stripped down to the bare bones to improve the power to weight ratio. The hood were replaced with a CF vented ones and YMS is looking into replacing the doors for some carbon fiber versions too.

Here’s a great on-board clip of the beast blasting through Tskuba while avoiding the EVOs and other GTRs scattered around the track.

YMS-gyoda is still tweaking the car to shave off their lap time for some sub-minute passes. So far, their best lap of Tsukuba is just a tick over a minute.

Here’s the rest of the pics.

It’s not the prettiest car, but in my opinion, it’s devilish look is very appealing to me. Sure there are pretty track cars that can still go fast but I got the same respects for cars like these, battle scars and all.

It’s not the prettiest but it’s the meanest! How this thing flies by Evos!
