Flat Box

27 October 2009 5 Comments

The popular color of choice these days for “tuned” rides is the matte or flat finish black. It looks mean and stealthy. But even though I’m a fan of the murdered-out flat black paint, I wish people would explore other color options besides black. The color swatches for flat paints are out there and I think it would make an already hooked up ride even more unique if we stay out of the flat black.

How about gray? Check out this sweet looking Porsche Boxster. The finish almost looks Reventon-like.

I like how the tail lights were smoked too but left in the same dull finish. Typically I hate this as I’ve seen many cars do their own DIY smoking and it just doesn’t look right with the glossy paint of the car. But this car pulled it off perfectly.

If you look closely on the side panel of the car, you can see a ghost boxster graphics. Subtle but effective.

The drop is real nice too.

Older pics before the ghost graphics were applied and the headlights updated.

The gloss black wheels with the rivets left in silver was a great touch to compliment the flat paint finish.

Props to the owner.

    Hi boxsterowner-san,
I am one of his friend who also have a Boxster.

Sometimes I’ve met him and his above flat boxster,
and he used to say that color is “mat graphite black”.
But I am sure that it looks not solid/sharp/deep black,
    it looks daaaaaark/deeeeeep gray.
    Yes it’s so cool…
His cool machine is still keep on evolving.
