Morning Drive – UPDATE

24 October 2009 2 Comments

It’s been ages since I went to Cars & Coffee and so I thought it might be a good time to take the Challenger out for a drive. My wife and I took our dog (miffy) and headed out to Irvine through the foggy Saturday morning.

As we pulled into the show car lot, the nice lady by the entrance said that the lot is almost full (this was at 7:30AM) so we drove around the side to see if there are any spots left. It was super crowded today. I don’t remember it being this packed before. There were the usual exotics, lots of old school american muscle cars and a share of imports. Nothing beats the Supra guys in terms of numbers, taking almost two rows. Some really nice rides too. We eventually found a spot towards the back next to a long row of Camaros and pulled right in.
Some quick snaps.

As I reversed into my spot, saw my ol’ buddy RJ de Vera. He drove his OG ride – the widebody NSX. It’s been so long since I’ve seen this car. It went through many colors – red, then silver and now orange, and probably will get repainted yet again. RJ also had numerous set of wheels but the Veilsides are back in and the ride set up for the daily duty. The widebody is by Comptech, one of the cleanest, smoothest widebody kits out there for the NSX application.

It was great seeing the progression of this car through the early import car show days. It’s cool that RJ kept her clean all this time and even running! I gotta find time to take my E36 out again. But like RJ was saying, I think we’ll both die still having our OG rides in our garages.

He just sold his famous (and infamous through that murdered model story) Mercedes Benz CLS to one of our old team mate from Art ‘N Motion. He’s not in a hurry to get a replacement but he had a couple of real nice whips he’s looking into. I’ll post more about it later.

With our schedule being as crazy as it is, it was great catching up with RJ again. I also saw Albert of Auto-Technica and Phil(R&W Creative Art Director) at the meet. It’s been forever since I’ve seen all these fellas and made a good day surrounded by cars even better.

I apologize for the lack of pictures from the meet. If I find some, I ‘ll update this post with a link.

Hope all ‘yall are having a great weekend.

UPDATE:

Link to more pictures from the meet including this shot of a guy walking his pet WOLF!?
