DANGERUSS

I’m always fascinated with 3D renderings. I’ve fantasized many times creating my own motorsport gallery filled with a row of my dream race cars whether be in it the pits or out in the track.

One of the guys that I admire when it comes to this is my buddy Russ Schwenkler aka “Dangeruss”. He has done many automotive illustrations from vexel to full 3D. Russ just got the skills man. Enough skills to be commissioned to do the box art for Forza 2 and 3 and other cool projects.

I’m a big fan of Russ’s artwork and recently he did something that I just have to post here.

Check out this 3D rendering of the #90 Team Rahal/Letterman BMW M3 GT2.

These 3D computer generated images (CGI) was done using 3d Studio MAX, Vray and Photoshop.

What I love the best about this are the “work-in-progress” files where you can see and read the notes in creating this piece. It’s very interesting.

Check it.

So this is the first WIP showing just some basic wireframes.

Then each area is shaded and modeled.

Only half of the car was modeled and mirrored to for efficiency.

And voila, the almost finished body..

Love the exploded view of the RAYS wheels!!!

Check out the details on the headlight. Unbelievable

Interesting to see the different parts of the rear end of the M3 GT2, down to the fins in the rear fender vents.

And the full cage with the driver too LOL… so cool.

With the 3D program, you can set whatever angle you want, set the car at whatever environment you want and even whatever livery you feel like.

I love this… how about the M3 GT2 in Jagermeister livery!!!

To hire Russ or simply just to get to know him, hit up his site at www.dangeruss.net.

The Jagermeister theme will never die and it looks great even in the rendering above.
