BMW 130i GTR

23 December 2009 3 Comments

Rehsraceteam from Germany owns and built this BMW 130i GTR.

They started with the 1-series coupe shell from BMW Motorsport and built this GTR from there. They run this car in the 24hr endurance race in Nordschleife.

Unloading from the trailer is always interesting as the front splitter turns into a very expensive plow.

Very complex Flossman widebody kit. I still can’t believe this body kit is available to the public.

Air Jack system of course.

And here’s a cool video of the rollout.

Here are some shots with the BMW Motorsport livery applied. Great choice!

It is powered by an inline 6 N52 engine putting out 200hp and 379 Nm of Tq. The power is handled through 6 gears matched to a race clutch.

Check out this video of it running in the ‘ring. The video starts on the long straights. It looked like it was good full speed in the straight away but at the 0.30 sec mark, a stock looking Audi R8 just blasted right by it?!! What the?! The 130i GTR did pass the R8 again in the turns but I’m still confused.

Cool video though. Sounded great. Makes me wanna play Gran Turismo.

I’m thinking the gearing on the cars transmission is the culprit haha.

Thanks Jon for uploading this beast.
It’s freaking sweet! OMG…..I wish I could see a BMW 135i with the same body kit…..super badass!

Hi there! The second vid is from the rollout on RTS Drivers Day in July 2009. The driver in the vid did most of the (re)building work and it was the second ever lap for the team and the car. So it was a lap far away from pushing to the limit.

First vid is from me and man I can tell you: the car is more beautiful in real life than the vids can show. Really looking forward to the 24hrs in May!

Check out the teams website http://www.rehsraceteam.de. We will keep you informed on the progress.
