911 GT3 R Hybrid

11 February 2010 One Comment

Porsche which denied their interest in getting into the hybrid race in the past have made an about face and are in it full tilt.

Check out their 911 GT3 R Hyrbid.

This car is based on the 911 GT3 R which replaced the previous GTR Cup S model. New front end, fenders are even wider, new rear wing etc.

Porsche’s hybrid harnesses kinetic energy under braking, almost like KERScommonly used in F1. Performance specs aren’t available at this time but it’s scheduled to be unveiled in the upcoming Geneva show so we’ll just wait.

Next stop after Geneva will be the 24 hour of Nurburgring in May.

Video of it in action.

lol something just doesn’t feel right about having “hybrid” and “race car” in the same room. I know people were skeptical about diesel too, and, as mentioned, the KERS is making a name for itself in F1.. but it just feels wrong hehe
