Seiken Z4 update
I posted this widebody BMW Z4 from Seiken Co. Ltd NKB almost exactly a year ago.
This was how it looked back then.

More pics HERE from my post last year.
It’s not unusual for tuners to update their demo car to keep their customers interests peaking. It’s economically less expensive than building a brand new demo car, especially if their demo car are still relatively popular. So Seiken/NKB did the most drastic update they can do without really changing the widebody or their wheel set up… repaint.
Here’s how it looks now.

Gone are the factory paint job and in place of it is a dull orange hue with the hood and the trunk being wrapped in Carbon Fiber – at least that’s my impression of it. Didn’t look like a real CF parts to me.

The wheels were also treated to some color or lack of color. Blacked out with orange pin striping on the lip.

Best part of this car I feel is the rear widebody fender extensions.

I love how well it retained the original shape of the rear fenders while being obviously not factory-like. Even with the new color, I still don’t care for the testarossa-style vent in the rear bumper. I recommend to shave it off to keep it clean. Easy fix.

BMW, when compared with others, drop the roadster ball everytime since probably Elivs drove one. Not that the overall shape is bad, I own the m roadster and a TC Kline littered 3.0i for good reason, but BMW roadsters lack the details designers at Audi or Porsche mostly get right from base models. Same applies to this kit: why fake testarossa ducts when a simple saving of material gives Gemballa status? Why not also widen the front fenders (especially when you run into serious frontal rub issues with anything over 19″)? Since NKB has, imo, corrected Bangle’s “Aston attempt fascia”, why not correct the sophmoronic “Z-with-a-sissy-button” fenders and give an elegant shout to the GT3 vent?
Integrity, anyone? Embarrassing that a blogger could sculpt a car that could generate more demand than tenured car designers. Sibal, keep coming with that correct!
