19 March 2010 3 Comments

With all the shakedown runs and test sessions, it’s finally here. The 2010 Super GT series will be unfolding Sunday (3/21) at the Suzuka Circuit.

Today, the teams arrived with their full gear, crew and spares.

A lot of these teams were in this track earlier this year running their racecars barely wearing any team livery. But today is different, no more dress rehearsal. This is the main event and everyone came full dressed.

Once of which is the RAYBRIG HSV-010 GT. They were the last Honda team that showed off their livery and I must say, it’s worth the wait. My favorite livery out of all five HSV-010 GT.

But since this is not about the best looking livery, the HSV-010 GT to keep your eye on is this. Weider HSV-010 HSV-010 GT (previously Team Dome Racing). And also ARTA HSV-10. They were the fastest so far from all the previous test runs, even beating some of the Nissan GT-R and the super fast SC430s.

But don’t get it twisted, the GT-R and the SC430 are ready to fight and can easily take the win in this inaugural race with their proven racecars.

In the GT300 class, there are plenty new things to check out too. The car that replaced last year’s BMW Z4 M Coupe is this Porsche from Goodsmile Racing, showing up in full anime livery.

The super fast JimGainer’s F430 all set up and ready to rumble.

JLOC’s Lamborghini Gallardo kept it subtle with the satin finish exterior. This is consistent from last year’s look.

Couple of Toyota Corrola, one with a new livery. No more teal blue I guess.

One new team that won’t be competing in Round 1 is Thunder Asia Racing’s MT900M Mosler. A first ever Mosler in the series and first foreign based team to compete in full season, they just missed the deadline to get their car ready. But the Singapore based team will use their experience in the ASIA GT races to see how they measure up against the GT300 veterans of the Super GT series in the following rounds.

Round 1 qualifying on saturday and race on Sunday. And Round 2 begins almost right away in 2 weeks in Okayama.

I’m definitely looking forward to the new season of SuperGT and I’ll be rooting for the Goodsmile Racing with Cox Porsche 911.

    Really nice looking cars.

My favorate has to be the GT300 Class the blue prototype (last picture) as its based on the Riley Daytona Prototype and looks amazing. In GT500 it is probabbly the Eneos SC430.
