Audi R8 GT Spyder

10 May 2010 One Comment

I saw Iron Man 2 last friday. I was excited to see this movie as all the previews I’ve seen for it looked really cool. But dang it, I wish they didn’t show too much on the previews. Although the first Iron Man was better, part 2 didn’t suck though, definitely better than other sequels out there.

In the movie, Audi snuck their R8 Spyder in the movie as Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) daily driver.

Here are some sneaky pics of it posted by AutoExpress during filming last year.

Although very cool being powered by a V10 and all, with the recent release of the fastest road legal R8 variant- the R8 GT, made me wish Tony Stark was driving the R8 GT Spyder instead.

But the R8 GT doesn’t come in Spyder version so hmm, I had a few hours to spare. I fired up the trusty photoshop so we can see how it may look.

Here is the base picture of the Audi R8 GT from the recent press release from Audi.

Cool angle, clear shot of the canards, gt front lip, wing and protruding side scoop. Cannot be mistaken for any regular version of the R8.

And here is my rendering of the R8 GT SPYDER.

I thought it would be funny to have Tony Stark himself driving it, along with with his buddy Rhodey in full war machine suit LOL

That was kinda fun. How about a rear quarter view of it.

Base picture for the rear quarter view of the R8 GT

And my rendering of the R8 GT SPYDER – minus Rhodey.

I kept the original background from the base pictures since I didn’t have much time to work on it. It was a quickie. Hope you guys liked it.

There is no official word if Audi will ever build a spyder version of their R8 GT model so this topless beauty might never see the light of day. It kinda make sense as the GT version is basically the lightweight version of their V10 model. But then again, Ferrari did produce the 16M which is the convertible version of their lightweight F430 Scuderia so hmm, idea of the R8 GT Spyder isn’t too crazy. Nevertheless, if you are as loaded as Tony Stark is, you can just build one yourself. I’m sure voiding the warranty will not be an issue if you can afford the build LOL.
