ALMS Round 7 Results
Road America hosted a pretty significant race for the GT class which happened in Round 7 of the American Le Mans Series this past weekend.

Entering this round, Team BMW/RLR was tied with RISI Competizione for 1st place in the overall Team Championship with the Flying Lizard in second place.

On lap 8, Bill Auberlen in the #92 BMW M3 GT made contact with the #55 Scott Tucker in the LMPC class ending the day for both cars. Here’s the video of the incident.
This was a serious hit in BMW’s chance of maintaining their standing as the #92 car is the stronger car compared to the #90 M3 GT. But Bobby Rahal and the rest of the RLR team’s eye was on the #90 car driven by Dirk Muller and Joey Hand. This is their time to shine.
Leading the GT class was the Flying Lizard Porsche and the RISI Competizione following a close second. But with forty-nine minutes left to race, Patrick long in the Porsche fumbled in taking the corner affecting the F430 GT and that’s when the #90 came alive and took advantage passing both cars for the #1 spot. The #90 M3 GT dropped to 3rd spot but regained 1st place after a restart. Dirk Muller was able to hang on to the lead until the very end giving the RLR a top podium win helping them continue to be on top of the overall standings.
At the end, the GT Team Championship standings so far shows BMW/RLR breaking their tie with RISI Competizione remaining in 1st place. Flying Lizard Motorsports moved up to second place while the RISI Competizione moved down to 3rd spot due to them finishing in 4th in this round.
