Itasha – now in 3D

4 August 2010 4 Comments

Apologies for the lack of post lately. It’s been insanely busy here and haven’t had time to do anything else but work.

The art of plastering your car with anime/video game characters famously known in the otaku world as “Itasha” have been around for a while now in Japan (of course).

Just google Itasha and you can see how serious this obsession goes from K cars all the way to exotic cars.

This trend event went as far as engulfing couple of SUPER GT racecars:
STUDIE/Glad Racing BMW Z4M

MOLA 350Z

But a couple of months ago, with 3D being all the rage these days, one car was spotted at the 2010 Audio Car Gallery in Japan taking itasha in a whole new dimension. 3D!

Wow, looks like the graphics are popping out of the hood, wait it is. No 3D glasses needed too.

Surely, it’s just for display and they can’t be driving around town like that… right?

Considering some of the other INSANE stuff Japanese motorists hit the streets with (Dekotora, vanning, bosozoku, etc), I wouldn’t be surprised in the least to find out these are daily driven. :O

Anyone else noticed that the S14 had a Instant Gentlemen body kit on it?
