Spring Fest 6
What do you get when you have a car club so passionate about their cars that the actual car manufacturer takes notice and backs it up? You get an event like no other – the annual Spring Festival of LX hosted by SoCalLX car club. It’s gotten so big now that they moved the event to the old El Toro Air Base – a spot used for a lot of racing exhibitions and filming for movies and TV shows like TOP GEAR USA..
SoCalLX has been putting this show together now for 6 years. It’s a show exclusively for the LX and LC platform which includes Dodge Magnum, Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300C, 200C attended by a bunch of MOPAR fans as well.
With over a 1000 cars pre registered , the show’s strength lies in a team of hard working SoCalLX volunteers and the leaderships headed by Tom (TMagnum), Jon (JonW) and of course the man behind this whole thing – John (Fatchance).
Chrysler/Dodge have acknowledged the passion and commitment of these guys and have stepped up in full support the event. We were ALL treated to a FREE lunch and many other goodies. Here’s a shot of the dining area set up adjacent to the food court.
The event also featured Dodge and Chrysler execs intermingling with the attendees. They were all very down to earth taking time to chat and check out the scene. Here is Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles in the black Dodge shirt, posing for a group photo with my car crew – the SoCal Challengers.
Chrysler/Dodge brought a fleet of their latest models.
Even their FIAT 500 from their sister company was there too! I can’t wait to get ours!!!
You can even test drive some of these cars in a short road course that was set up at the event. Here’s a line of people waiting to get some seat time.
Across from the test drive area section was another road course set up. And for $20 which is donated to charity, you can hop in and beat the time set by Ralph Gilles and two-time Formula Drift champion Samuel Hubinette. Here is Samuel posing with a fan in between one of his drift exhibitions.
Speaking of which, here is Samuel’s new ride for this season’s Formula D.
The new Challenger SRT8 wears a new white and black livery.
His team mate is European Pro Drift champion Dean Kearney will be driving the Dodge Viper.
There were a bunch of supporting vendors at the event showing off their latest products.
There were no shortages of very unique custom cars from the local So Cal crews to out of towners some driving close to 3000 miles just to be part of this event. A Challenger with a blower stacked past the roof.
This Challenger was modded in and out.
Some old school MOPAR were there as well like this original Dodge Charger from the 70s.
Mean looking off roader right here.
John (Fatchance) also debuted his new brand new 2011 Chrysler 300C aka “Fatchance 2.0″ all modded up within 6 days from taking delivery.
Here it is parked next to the classic 300C owned by SCC honorary member Klaus.
Check out this double suicide door Dodge Magnum done up in a very interesting theme.
The skull in the front grill looked wicked!
It wasn’t for everyone but I dug it.
There were a group of guys fortunate enough to get their hands on the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 Inaugural Edition.
Limited to just 1492 units total with only 1100 coming to the U.S., my buddy Dave (dude on the farthest right) who is the Co-President of the SoCalChallengers crew actually got serial#2! (#1 went to the Chrysler President).
Jon from MagnaCharger didn’t waste time and boosted the 392 HEMI in time for Spring Fest.

But one of the rarest factory specced car there in attendance is this all white 392 Frederick Kowalski Edition #1 of 10 .
Mike aka “Notsure” the lucky owner of the Kowalski Edition car drove it all the way from Michigan with just 50 miles on the dials to participate in this premier event. It was great to meet him and see the car in person. Here he is posing next to my car.
Speaking of which, I got a few new goodies including the AFR MAX AIR Fully functional Hood Scoop system from Autoform Group I debut at the show but more on that later.
Here are the rest of the pics
There were a ton more cars out there but it was too fun meeting up with my SoCal Challenger friends and seeing all the crazy cars. Can’t wait for SF7!
